Here at Shaping Futures we are proud to be the leaders in Pilates.  We teach to small classes so we can be hands on with our teaching.  We teach Pilates in its classical form (the way Joseph Pilates Intended) because we believe this fixes the body, sculpts the body and strengthens the body and core.  We have also discovered this gives our clients amazing results.

We offer a vast variety of Pilates classes for all levels and we encourage you to develop at your own pace in a non competitive environment.  We also allow you the flexibility to switch classes to fit in with your lifestyle or work patterns.  If you can not make your normal class for any reason just join in another class of the same level and there are many to chose from.
 
 
BEGINNERS – after you have understood the fundamentals of Pilates in your body, you are able to join our beginner classes.  Here you will start learning the exercises and putting it all together.  This is where your journey into Pilates really begins.
 
INTERMEDIATE – The moves become a little more fluid and we build on your Pilates routine and repatoire as you become stronger and more body aware. 
 
ADVANCED – This class is for those who have good experience in Pilates.  It’s a more challenging class and at a faster pace.  We recommend you speak to us before signing up to this class.

REFORMER
 
We are proud to be the only studio in our area to offer REFORMER SMALL GROUP CLASSES.  These classes are for 5 people maximum and each has their own Reformer for the full hour.  Each of our Reformers has a tower attached which means more variety and versatility in the classes.  These classes are highly popular due to the amazing effect it has on your body inside and out which you can see after only a few classes.
 
Reformers are the most unique and dynamic pieces of Pilates equipment.  The Reformer gives you all the benefits of Pilates and more…. The Reformer will help you be muscularly balanced, develop balance, co-ordination and the way it stretches you whilst your working gives you strength and length to your entire body, not just one isolated set of muscles.

We suggest you try a one on one private session with our Pilates master trainer before joining a class.  If you enjoy, feel and see the benefits you can do a trial class for £30 and If you want to continue you can pay for a 4 week block or save money and become a Reformer member.  Once you pay for the block or become a member, a Reformer is guaranteed to be yours for the duration of your block or membership.

EXPRESS REFORMER

This class is a 30 minute session on the Reformer.  Its quick paced and strengthens and lengthens you from head to toe. 

You need to have done at least a 4 week course on Reformer to be able to do this class.

Healthy Back Programme

HEALTHY BACK PROGRAMME ABOUT THE PROGRAMME – More than 80% of the adult population suffer from low back pain at some time in their life. It is one of the most common reasons people take time off work, and may be distressing and frustrating as quality of life often suffers.

Yet gentle, effective exercise, delivered by a properly trained exercise professional, can often help with the prevention and management of low back pain.

Non specific low back pain is tension, soreness and/or stiffness in the lower back region, back pain for which your medical practitioner has not been able to identify a specific cause for the pain. The key focus will be to help you to self- manage your condition and keep you active. Leila is an exercise specialist who has trained to help people specifically with low back pain.

Leila is also a Master Pilates instructor and level 4 Advanced Trainer who has helped many people with back pain.

PEACE OF MIND – If you enrol in our healthy back programme – you can have total peace of mind that you are being taught by a qualified and experienced professional.

WHAT TYPE OF EXERCISES WILL I BE DOING? During the class Leila will teach you Pilates ABCs. Alignment, Breathing and Centring (core stability) in a supportive environment. Once basics are learnt, you will be taught a series of exercises designed to help you control your movements and improve your posture, increasing both strength and flexibility in your back. ‘Rest and get worse or get active and recover’. – The Back Book

PILATES FOR MEN.
 
Even though men are more than welcome in all our Pilates classes we have decided to offer a class just for the boys.  This is because it’s no secret that the majority of Pilates clients are woman.  Unfortunately Pilates has mistakenly been thought of for woman but the truth is it was designed originally by a Boxer who wanted to offer a full workout system to keep the body injury and pain free so he could stay fit for longer…. And guess what IT WORKS.  This class will ease back pain, and help with other sports in your life such as golf, running, football, rugby, cricket or tennis.

MVe Pilates Chair Classes 

This class is a fun and exciting workout that is highly effective at increasing flexibility, physical strength, core strength, balance and co-ordination.  It’s also a great fat burner that will keep burning fat long after class is finished.

The MVe Pilates Chair uses spring tension, which provides resistance, assistance and support that may be increased or decreased according to the goal of the exercise.  The spring attaches to a moving pedal, which provides a level of instability, whilst the seat is fixed and stable.

This class that takes max of 9 people is great for beginners to advanced athletes, the MVe Pilates chair will challenge everyone.

-Sculpts and strengthens legs, buttocks and calves

CHILDREN’S PILATES for those between 5-10yrs old.
 
This very popular class which we run every Wednesday in term time helps children develop better posture and core strength.
The Children learn Pilates fun moves and learn that staying fit and healthy is fun. It suddenly becomes cool to know how your spine works and how to stretch your body.
(A spin class runs for parents at the same time or use of gym facilities is permitted, or have a peaceful coffee in our lounge whilst your child is learning Pilates.)
